I really don't know where the time has gone - it's whizzed by. At this point I am in desperate need to just be able to walk!!! The sun is shining and I so miss going out for walks with my dogs. Everyone has been brilliant, so helpful and supportive - there are some fabulous people out there I am back to the hospital next week for my weight-bearing cast - yippeee I keep that on until 30 April ( providing xrays show everything is good ) and then I'm a free woman!! NO cast. I do hope you are all well Kelly x

Kelly - that's great news. So - you'll be walking again next week - wow!
I know how much you miss going for those doggie walks but just think, in a short while, you'll be mobile again and ready to start running round.
Take care and much love Jeanxxxxx

Its so good to see how well you have got on I am having my opp in the morning and i have just read your posts this has put me at ease. Thank you so much, i am sure you remember feeling the nerves, i dont think it matters how many opps you still have the niggly worries. Keep writing, it will give me an idea what will happen next, like you i love taking my little dog out for walkies, and she expects it on a daily basis, may not always get it but will expect so this will be something i will miss, did you need to use a wheelchair? do you think it would be useful as a friend has offered the use of one?. You take good care of yourself, luv Anne-Marie xx p.s well done you.

Hello Anne-Marie
No doubt you will now be reading this post after your op.
RE Wheelchair : Please take up your friends offer of a wheelchair. It's been my life-saver! In the beginning you can't go very far on your crutches and without a wheelchair I wouldn't have been able to go anywhere. I even went to the NIA Birmingham a couple of weeks ago to see Cesar Millan, my kind friends took it in turns to push me.
Take the first two weeks very steady, feet up whenever you can. It's very important to keep that foot elevated.
Something else I find really useful is a limbo to put over your cast so you can shower or bath, it keeps it completely dry.
I wish you all the best - and look forward to hearing from you on here again really soon Kelly xxx

hi kells, so pleased to read it went well and you had great support.
Did you see your newest family addition much?
I have to say Anne Marie that my wheelchair has been a huge support for me but a God send to my worrying family. TAKE the offer!

Got myself a limbo, will try it out next week as, i am a bit nervous about getting in and out of the bath, i think its after the fall, Hubby has been helping me with a bowl, its a pain but will do for now, but thanks for the advice re limbo, got here within 1 day of ordering.
Still very swollen around toes, a lot of pain between painkillers, it seems to be on any movement i make. lets hope its all worth it in the end, surgeon said non weight baring fo 3mths due to the damage already done seems a very long time?
got the wheelchair zimmer frame perching stool crutches
and awaiting toilet rails? so plenty support from physio, Anne-M XX

Once the swelling goes down, Ann-Marie, you will start to feel a bit more positive. Although I had no probs with any of my replacement ops., there was a period of about 2/3 weeks post op when I wondered whether I had done the right thing - pain, swelling etc. However, after a couple of weeks or so, I started to realise that I had definitely done the right thing! Take care
Love Jeaxxxx
